Went down to Boyton on Friday (6th Jan) seeking my old friend the Short Eared Owl who I have not seen since Christmas Eve. No sign of him at first then I noticed him over on Havergate Reserve, so I watch him for awhile very distant, then he disappeared so I sat down at base of the river wall to have a coffee from my flask, when I finished I went up to top of wall and there he was on my side of the river (not as close as Christmas Eve) but nice to see him back (looked like the same Owl).
He only stayed for a few minutes the flew towards Hollesley
Also a flock of Avocets flew past over the River
Then just as I was leaving a flock of Linnets flew in to a bush
